Auction of Spectacular Chevrolet Corvettes Celebrate “America’s Sports Car” at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ‒ June 2, 2021 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, will create the ultimate oasis of speed in the desert when it offers a docket filled with Chevrolet Corvettes that represent every decade of “America’s sports car” during the 2021 Las Vegas Auction, June 17-19, 2021, at the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). The event will also include C8 convertible hot laps on the Barrett-Jackson Performance Track in Las Vegas. Among the most anticipated Corvettes to be auctioned with No Reserve include a rare 1963 327/360 Split-Window Fuelie (Lot #753), as well as a Rapid Blue 2021 3LT Stingray Convertible (Lot #721) with only 15 actual miles.
“For more than 60 years, the Corvette has been considered America’s sports car,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Some of the best examples of Corvettes representing each decade will be available during this year’s Las Vegas Auction, giving enthusiasts the chance to own their dream car. We are also excited that General Motors is offering hot laps in the all-new C8 mid-engine Corvette convertible at our Las Vegas event. This is the perfect opportunity to see some amazing cars, buy the Corvette of your dreams and experience the literally breathtaking performance of the latest model of these spectacular supercars.”
Classic Corvettes headed to Las Vegas include a top-of-the-line 1963 Split-Window Fuelie (Lot #753). The recipient of a frame-off restoration, this coveted coupe is finished in Riverside Red and is powered by a matching-numbers L84 360-horsepower engine mated to a BorgWarner T10 4-speed manual transmission. A 1966 427/390 model (Lot #686) headed to auction is a two-owner, unrestored California survivor and a great example of an original car. It is powered by the original L36 427, which is the first year for the big-block to be an option in the Corvette.
“Chevrolet made a major move in 1953, when they began building their first sports car,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Since then, the Corvette has evolved into an amazing car and become a symbol of Americana. We have assembled the most amazing group of Corvettes in our Las Vegas history, ranging from concours-quality cars to incredible Resto-Mods. These professional builds represent an unbelievable number of hours and talent, and are so spectacular you must see them in person.”
The wide range of Resto-Mod Corvettes on full display in Las Vegas includes a 1963 Split-Window Coupe (Lot #763). Over 4,000 hours went into this SEMA Gold Top 100 Award-winning restoration by Nostalgia Hot Rods. It is powered by a GM LS3 376ci Hot Cam engine with modern amenities that include Bluetooth, wireless phone charging, heat and air conditioning, and a custom interior. Also on the docket is a magazine-featured 1973 coupe (Lot #423) that preserves the classic Corvette style with all the modern upgrades. It is powered by a 485-horsepower LS1 bolted to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. The interior features a full navigation system with a Pioneer Stereo system, custom seats with matching door panels and a custom gauge package.
The all-new C8 mid-engine Corvette has earned accolades from enthusiasts around the world. Two late-model versions on the docket include an unmodified 2021 3LT Stingray Convertible (Lot #721) with only 15 actual miles. This Rapid Blue convertible is powered by a 495-horsepower V8 and features the exterior carbon-fiber package, Z51 package and magnetic ride suspension. Finished in Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic, a 2020 Stingray hardtop convertible (Lot #710) comes with the 2LT preferred equipment package and Z51 performance package. Both will be offered with No Reserve.
Hot laps around the Barrett-Jackson Performance Track in the all-new C8 Chevrolet Corvette convertible will also be available to guests during the Las Vegas event. The beautiful coupe version of the car made its first appearance at the 2019 Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction, and now those attending the auction can take a free ride at speed in one piloted by a professional driver.
