Automotive Fine Arts Society Expands Access To Its Work With Stellar Showing At Boca Raton Concours
BOCA RATON, Florida – February 5, 2020 – The Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) is expanding accessibility to member works by taking its artwork east, moving from its traditional home on the greens of Pebble Beach to the tropical ambience of Boca Raton, Florida. There, as AFAS approaches its 40th anniversary of chronicling the automobile’s many forms with its automotive art, Boca Raton hosts its 14th annual Concours d’Elegance from February 7-9. With Mercedes-Benz, the first automobile manufacturer, and AutoNation, the nation’s largest automotive retailer, serving as presenting sponsors, the Boca Raton Concours enjoys a unique status as the largest for-charity Concours in the world.
While the AFAS is known for its long-standing association with the Pebble Beach Concours each August and was part of Amelia Island Concours for 25 years, this is the first foray by the Automotive Fine Arts Society and its participating artists into Boca Raton. The Concours even tapped AFAS president Ken Eberts to create this year’s poster art.
“During the past several years, AFAS member pieces were most accessible at our show on the Pebble Beach Concours green during that area’s Collector Car week,” said Eberts. “With our display in Boca Raton, we’re essentially going with the seasonal flow. Collector car enthusiasts are often collectors of automotive art, and during the winter months those enthusiasts are frequently in Florida. We look forward to making great art accessible to a wider, more geographically diverse audience.”
AFAS members participating in the Boca Raton show will have their art on display in the Mizner Center at the Boca Raton Resort & Club on Saturday, February 8th and Sunday, February 9th. The artwork will share the space with the Mecum Gallery Exposition, featuring highly collectible cars for sale at that location. Unlike those cars, often commanding six and seven figure prices, AFAS artwork remains very accessible.
“Automotive art often cost less than that project car you like to think about, but never pull the trigger on” said Eberts. “And best of all, the artwork never breaks or leaves you stranded on the road.”
AFAS artists showing pieces at the Gallery Exposition of Collector Cars and Automotive Fine Arts Society Show include:
- Larry Braun
- David Chapple
- Ken Eberts
- Dan McCrary
- Richard Pietruska
- Tony Sikorski
Guest artists participating in the AFAS exhibit include:
- Dean Adams
- Ilya Avakov
- Kevin Page
- Camilo Pardo
- Jamie Schena
- David Snyder
AFAS guest artist Dean Adams will paint a piece of automotive art on site. When sold, 50% of sale proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
While the work of AFAS members continues to reflect a collective passion for automotive history, their exhibit in Boca Raton allows member works to be viewed by those visiting the area for the Boca Raton Concours at their own pace. The AFAS exhibit opens in the Boca Raton Resort & Club at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8 and reopens Sunday, February 9, at 9:00 a.m.
Created in 1983 by six artists, the society made its first appearance as a group at the 1986 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Today, AFAS is comprised of more than 25 incredible artists. All continue to create truly innovative and stunning pieces of automotive art, celebrating most – if not all – automotive genres.
