Barrett-Jackson Heads to Texas for Inaugural Houston Auction at NRG Center, September 16-18, 2021
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ‒ March 24, 2021 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is headed to the Lone Star State to host its inaugural Houston Auction, September 16-18, 2021, inside the NRG Center. The inaugural event marks Barrett-Jackson’s first collector car auction in Texas, and will feature a broad range of vintage, customs, supercars and late-model vehicles, as well as authentic automobilia pieces.
“We’re incredibly excited to head out to Houston this fall for our first collector car auction in Texas, said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Enthusiasts across the region, especially Texans, have a deep passion for collector cars. Only a few years ago, my search for the lost 1967 Ford Shelby EXP 500 prototype dubbed ‘Little Red’ led me to North Texas, where I found the fabled Mustang. There’s an unmistakable car culture in Texas, and we’re looking forward to fueling that passion with our inaugural Houston Auction in September.”
Conveniently located just six miles from the Houston Galleria featuring great restaurants and shopping, the NRG Center offers over 706,000 square feet of contiguous single-level exhibit space, over 150,000 square feet of registration space, and 280,000 square foot marshalling area. It is equipped with a technological infrastructure capable of providing high-speed internet access, pre-wired fiber optic cabling backbone, on-site production facilities, 120 television monitors, and web-casting abilities.
“We are excited to be the inaugural Texas site to host Barrett-Jackson Car Auctions,” said Mark Miller, general manager of NRG Park. “We are happy to add this to our list of high-profile events.”
A 350-acre complex with 26,000 parking spaces, NRG Park is uniquely comprised of four facilities: NRG Center, NRG Arena, NRG Stadium and NRG Astrodome, where adaptability, hospitality and distinct service all meet to provide a world-class experience. The uniqueness of NRG Park is apparent in the flexibility of its facilities, each offering the opportunity to host large exhibitions, concerts, sporting events, conventions and meetings.
“They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and that’s exactly what you can expect from our inaugural Houston Auction,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “With the sprawling NRG Park as our backdrop, our docket will be as wide and diverse as the state itself. From the custom off-road trucks and SUVs that have made Texas the Truck Capitol of the World to modern supercars that race their way around Circuit of the Americas, we’ll have a car for every type of collector.”
