SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ‒ December 27, 2022 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is highlighting the unprecedented demand for Resto-Mod SUVs with an array of spectacularly built Ford Broncos and Chevy Blazers as part of the 2023 Scottsdale Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale, January 21-29, 2023. Among the most impressive builds crossing the auction block with No Reserve include a custom 1970 Ford Bronco (Lot #1340) nicknamed “Maverick” that was a collaboration between Tre5 Customs, Ikandy Paintworks and Paradise Customs, as well as a custom 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer (Lot #1422.1) finished in PPG “Mint my Mind” and Mercedes Cirrus White.
“Showcasing the classic styling of sport utility vehicles from the 1970s combined with the impeccable craftsmanship we see from today’s builders, the Resto-Mod market is booming with the popularity of these incredible Broncos and Blazers,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “I have both Resto-Mod and late-model Broncos, and the quality of these SUVs crossing the auction block in Scottsdale will make great additions for anyone looking to add one of these popular vehicles to their collection.”
Lot #1340 is a custom 1970 Ford Bronco 4×4 nicknamed “Maverick,” recently completed following more than 1,400 hours spend on fabrication, body and paintwork done collaboratively by Tre5 Customs, Ikandy Paintworks and Paradise Customs. Its power comes from it Gen 3 5.0-liter Coyote crate engine mated to a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission. Finished in what the consignor describes as an elevated Brittany Blue, it also features a gray painted stripe embedded into the paint to match the gray hardtop. Also completed by the same trio of shops is Lot #1340.1, another custom Ford Bronco 4×4 nicknamed “Goose.” Goose was displayed at the 2022 SEMA Show and, like Maverick, it was the recipient of a 1,400-hour build. Finished in an elevated Sea Foam Green, Goose features a white painted stripe to match its white hardtop as well.
A custom 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer (Lot #1422.1) highlights several of the Resto-Mod Chevy SUVs selling with No Reserve at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction. Finished in a PPG “Mint my Mind” and Mercedes Cirrus White, this Blazer retains its truck-style side trim with a hand-laid pinstripe on the “Chevrolet” on the tailgate. It is powered by a GM crate 6.2-liter 500hp LS engine backed by a Hughes 4L80E transmission and rides on a set of 17-inch KMC beadlock wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich KM3 tires. Lot #1311.1 is a custom 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer powered by a new GM Performance LS3 crate engine paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission with a rebuilt NP205 2-speed transfer case. Finished in its original color of Medium Bronze, this Blazer rides on 17×9 Pro Comp wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires and sits on a new 4-inch Rough Country lift kit.
“The Resto-Mod market continues to increase in its popularity within the collector car hobby,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Combining modern drivetrains and cutting-edge technology with the nostalgic styling of these SUVs from the 1970s has really driven the demand for these vehicles, and our Scottsdale docket is delivering on this with the best selection we’ve seen of Resto-Mod Ford Broncos and Chevy Blazers.”
