Nearly 100 Pieces from Ashton Collection Highlight Rare, Collectible Automobilia – All with No Reserve – at 2018 Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction
UNCASVILLE, CONN. – June 18, 2018 – More than 475 pieces of rare and collectible automobilia, including nearly 100 from the Ashton Collection, are set to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s 3rd Annual Northeast Auction, June 20-23, 2018, at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. The entire automobilia auction will be offered at No Reserve and is highlighted by Lot #8268, a hand-built 1/3-scale 1956 Chevrolet Corvette SR Prototype kiddie car, known as “The Real McCoy,” from the Ashton Collection. The automobilia auction runs Thursday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the collector car auction in the Mohegan Sun Arena.
“Automobilia has been an exciting addition to our collector car auction over the years as we continue to enhance the ultimate automotive lifestyle event,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We are excited to offer the Ashton Collection, which is bringing a tremendous combination of collector cars and sought-after automobilia to Connecticut. Every automobilia item we consign is an authentic piece of history, and our Northeast Auction will have automobilia items that would be perfect for any collection, as well as pieces that are extremely rare and coveted by collectors around the world.”
Automotive memorabilia, also known as automobilia, includes a wide array of items that span generations and cultures. Some of the featured automobilia pieces crossing the block in Connecticut include a circa late-1950s Texaco Oil restored service station fuel island with two original Tokheim model #300 gas pumps (Lot #8287). These pumps have been restored to perfection and feature a fuel island base that was custom-crafted to make this the ultimate piece for any car display. Lot #8254.1 is an extremely desirable 1968 to 1970 Dodge Scat Pack light-up dealership showroom sign. It is in great condition and is one of the only survivors representing Charger Daytona/RT, Challenger RT, Super Bee and Coronet RT.
“Automobilia has become an important part of our automotive culture,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “But, these items are more than just collector pieces. For so many they represent a connection to the past. Whether it’s a gas can they used as a kid, or a neon sign from the gas station of their youth, each automobilia piece we sell is as authentic and priceless as the memory it brings back.”
Other rare and collectible automobilia pieces crossing the Northeast auction block at No Reserve include:
- Lot #8296 – Rare circa 1940s Greyhound Bus Lines “Bus” terminal single-sided neon porcelain dealership sign
- Lot #8294 – 1940s-50s Chrysler-Plymouth single-sided porcelain dealership sign
