SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Jan. 12, 2016 – To honor the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, Scottsdale Mayor W. J. Lane has officially declared January 24-30, 2016, “Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Week” to commemorate the company’s 45th Anniversary auction in its hometown.

Barrett-Jackson has become a staple and a point of pride for the City of Scottsdale and its residents over the last 45 years since its inception in 1971. Bringing both national and international attention to the city, in 2015 the annual event brought in more than 350,000 in attendance with bidders from all 50 states and eight foreign countries. Having created a positive economic impact and raising nearly $85 million for local and national charities to date, the auction has become an important tradition for the City of Scottsdale and its residents.

“Forty-five years ago my father, Russ Jackson, and his friend, Tom Barrett, started the auction tradition in a hotel parking lot in Scottsdale,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Now, more than four decades after that first Sunday-afternoon, Barrett-Jackson is the world’s greatest collector car auction. I’m proud to call Scottsdale home and honored to receive Mayor Lane’s recognition for our contribution to the community.”

Barrett-Jackson’s 45th Anniversary Scottsdale Auction will be held at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Jan. 23-31, 2016. To kick off the nine-day celebration, Barrett-Jackson will host Cox Family Value day on Saturday, Jan. 23, with free admission for children under 12. The Automobilia auction will begin on Sunday, Jan. 24; the invitation-only Opening Night Gala will be held on Monday, Jan. 25; and the collector car auction will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 25. The week continues beyond the auction block with a variety of automotive and lifestyle activities including the Gas Monkey Garage and Patio, Ford and Chevrolet Ride ’N Drives, Dodge Thrill Rides, “Behind the Hobby” Collector Car Symposiums, Barrett-Jackson Bull-Riding Challenge, as well as hundreds of vendor and sponsor displays.
